Fair & Square exchange

Fair & Square Exchange - Squares for Kathy A
Originally uploaded by rosie_kiwi
I've heard today that Kathy received her squares from me (I stitched Papillons Tiny Little Quaker in DMC 99 - I love how it turned out). It was fun to get to know her a little better, and be involved in an exchange with such a lovely lady. I hope we'll keep in touch.
I'm a bit quiet on the blog front at the moment, but I am stitching. I'm close to finishing my part for Dani's Neighbourhood RR (I can't wait to show you what I'm stitching on her Fairytale themed neighbourhood), and I'm just stitching the borders on the Hooked on Exchanging biscornu to get it ready to put it together. Luckily I've made a biscornu before, so I'm sure it will be easier and quicker second time around. I'm finishing-challenged you see. :-)
Hope you're having a great weekend!

I've been tagged
First, the Rules:
1 Once you are tagged, link back to the person who tagged you
2 Post the Rules on your blog
3 Post 7 weird or random facts about yourself on your blog
4 Tag 7 people and link them
5 Comment on their blog to let them know they have been tagged
Now, the 7 wierd/random facts about me -
1. I have Cliff Richard's autograph personally signed for me. I know someone who knows someone who knows him :-)
2. I once gatecrashed a controversial art exhibition with some co-workers. I'm sure we stuck out like a sore thumb - we were the ones tittering and snickering at the 'art'
3. I would love to live in the English countryside in an old cottage
4. The new job I started last year made me worry a lot (I do that anyway, but even more so!). Good job I've finally relaxed into it!
5. My Dad is English and my Mum is a Kiwi of Scottish descent
6. My work gave me a gift voucher for Xmas, and I spent it on a gliding flight for my OH and a telescope so we can look at the stars (it was a mission getting it put together, and we still haven't worked out how to work it!)
7. I can't not wear perfume, I have to smell good :-)
I won't tag seven people, as many of your have already done this.

How spoilt am I?

Exchange from Kathy A. in Yuma, AZ
Originally uploaded by rosie_kiwi
My Fair & Square exchange arrived yesterday from the lovely Kathy. I am still overwhelmed by the beautiful squares (you can't see from the photo but they have crystals and beads on them) and all the amazing gifts she sent.
So, in the package was - the gorgeous squares, the chart for Paradigm Lost (I had intended buying this at some stage, as I loved watching Carol's progress - it's a stunning piece), a packet of Swavroski crystals, two skeins of DMC 4240 (variegated), a hole scaler (which will definitely come in handy for some of my unlabelled fabrics), two fat quarters of fabric (I really must get my sewing machine out which I got for my birthday last year and have hardly used), a pretty postcard from Yuma (Arizona), a Roadrunner card and last but not least a beading kit. I hope when I post Kathy's parcel out she'll be as thrilled to bits with what I send her, as I was at receiving all these lovely goodies! :-)
I don't have any stitching progress to share at the moment - it's all exchange stitching. I decided this year to participate in more exchanges - to get to know my fellow bloggers better, and because giving and receiving is always fun.
However, after my current committments are over I am going to have to stop for a while - because I'm about to become a student (as well as working full time). I'm starting a Diploma in Photography at the end of this month.
I will be continuing with my Quaker Friendship RR and Hello Neighbour RR committments though (it's not all going to be work and study!).
At least I can still buy stash, and I got the bargain of the century on TradeMe last night. Just don't tell my OH.... lol. I bought the kit for Day Surrendering to Night by Kustom Krafts for NZ$18 (including postage) - that's probably about US$10 and GBP 6.00.

Checking in
Oh well, lesson learned - start stitching as soon as you can because you never know when life might throw you something curly!

Enjoy your weekend!

Ooky spooky Saturday
We started off in a cemetry where we captured some orbs...

Paranormal activity was at a bit of a low, so we had to make our own fun...

We did manage to capture a glowing eyed beast of the night on camera... it was about the only 'activity' going on. (By the way, it's a possum! Probably wondering what all the flashing was about!)

We then got taken to a secret location - an unused theatre. We were guaranteed paranormal activity here, but despite some of the others calling on the spirits (while I tried very hard not to wet myself laughing) there were definitely no ghosts in there. Unless you count the only red orb of the night...

In a last ditch attempt to get at least one fright for the night we went to a cinema which is in use, and despite the clairvoyant believing there was a spirit there (note the orb above her head which was right after she said that) I never felt anything.
She said there was a large dark shadow standing behind me right after that... I said it was probably the shadow of my big backside she could see, which cracked everyone up!

It was a fantastic evening - the thrill of the chase, the anomalies caught on camera, the people we met, the one strange noise we heard, playing with the ghost detecting equipment, getting home in the wee small hours of the morning and of course, all the laughs we had! (And will continue to have over our silly adventure).
And hey, I'm VERY glad I still don't know whether ghosts do or don't exist.
Hope you all had a great weekend!

Exchange received
And what a lucky save that was - look at the lovely package I received - a gorgeous scissor fob (the design is by Bent Creek - and it is perfectly finished), some fabric, thread, a make up bag and a lovely postcard from The Netherlands. :-)

Thank you again Simone for a wonderful exchange! :-)
Oh and the reason it was lying in the garden is because our weather has gone wild - it's warm, it's windy and it's very wet! Yuck. Our postie is also a right pillick, but that's a whole different story...
