WIP busting and a gift

This week I received a lovely gift in the mail from Steph. It's a gorgeous cross stitch book with lots of sampler patterns in it. Thank you so much Steph! Steph doesn't cross stitch, but she's creative and amazing with lots of other crafts.

I don't know what posessed me, but I picked up a very old WIP and made progress on it this week. It is The Drawn Thread's 'Lily of the Valley' (started in 2005). It's a small sampler, but some of the specialty stitches were a bit difficult and it ended up in the too hard basket. Five years later I'm biting the bullet and am just going to finish it anyway I can.

My little niece Phoebe surprised me on Thursday. She crawled over to me and stood herself up (she loves my necklace and always makes a beeline for it), and after a little while I realised she wasn't touching me at all and was standing there all on her own!! She will be a year old next month. Time flies!

Have a great weekend!

Lovely sampler, lily of the valley is my Mum's favourite flower, it looks great, whatever the stitches are :)

This is so funny...I have one of those DT's too, and I was JUST thinking that it was time to resurrect it. The specialty stitches got tiresome and I put it away a couple years ago. (It's Alpine Garden.) And now you've inspired me to work on it some more! Except you're much closer to finishing than I am.

I'm so glad you're taking the time to finish "Lily of the Valley," Rowyn--it is just so pretty. I've always admired those Drawn Threads garden charts(I think I have Cloister Garden, but have never started it)...

Can't believe little Phoebe will be a year old already! Sounds like she is as darling as ever :)

What a lovely book, and your Drawn Thread piece is gorgeous! You have to finish it! Happy early birthday to Phoebe! Just you wait -- she'll be walking by her birthday! :D

That looks like a great book! And good for you re: the WIP - I've got two very small "I am supposed to do this but am completely intimidated by the specialty stitches" pieces that my stepmom gave me - one to do for her, one to do for me - that I haven't even started. Good for you on taking the plunge!

Awww, I will look forward to seeing Phoebe's party photos soon! It's amazing when they start standing and walking - then running! Regular little peeps!

That sampler book looks interesting. And your DT piece looks very pretty!

A lovely book. The DT is looking gorgeous. Remember you're still using the same needle and thread for speciality stitches as you do with x stitching, they just go in different directions. Take your time and enjoy!

Its a lovely design Rowyn, its quite nice to go back to some of our 'put aside for a while' stitching.

Lily of the Valley is such a lovely sampler. It's always great when you take out one of your UFOs after such a long time and enjoy stitching on it again. This happened to me me with my Moira Blackburn sampler (Three Things) that was only half done. And now it's nearly finished.

I'm sure you won't have any trouble finishing the DT sampler, but if you get truly anxious about any of it, I'm happy for you to ship it over here and I'll finish it off for you and ship it back again :) And with all the WIPs I have already, I don't offer that too often LOL - it would be a shame not to see it finished though, you seem really close to the end :D

The Drawn Thread sampler looks beautiful Rowyn. Maybe after a five year break it will be easier to work.

Your DT piece looks beautiful. It's always very satisfying to get an old piece out and finish it.

What a lovely DT sampler! It's so wonderful to restart stitching an old WIP, isn't it. I love your Moira Blackburn progress as well, it's a beautiful piece.
