Fair & Square Celebrate Summer Round for Clare

Clare has received her Summer squares from me, so I can now share a photo. I stitched Flowers by Heart in Hand, and sent a chart off Clare's wishlist.

Good spotting KarenV, the squares Clare stitched for me were a Brightneedle design. :-)

We could do with some Summer weather. New Zealand has been battered by two storms in the last few days. There have been a number of deaths attributed to the weather and widespread damage. I hope all my Kiwi blogging friends are safe and well (and dry!).

An award

Thanks Erica for the Kreativ Blogger award. :-) I'm sorry I can't nominate just five, I love and am inspired by all the blogs I read.

I really had to scratch around for something else to share in this post. I had a week off work last week, and the only thing I managed to accomplish on the stitching front was making another little pincushion out of my pretty squares from Clare.

Have a great week everyone.

Great mail day...

I received not one, but two packages in the post today -

First up my new charts - Mary Queen of Scots and Simple Quaker by Papillon Creations. Judy asked on a previous post if I will stitch Mary Queen of Scots in red. I am toying with the idea of stitching it in a dark blue like the Scottish flag, but I do also like the red. Decisions, decisions!

My Fair & Square Celebrate Summer Round squares from Clare also arrived today. What a great package.

Clare kindly included a postcard for my collection, two skeins of thread, a cute mirror, needles, buttons and a Just Nan chart. Thank you so much Clare, I love it all!

I went to see the movie Mama Mia! on Wednesday night. I loved it so much I went with a different group of people yesterday afternoon. My sister wants to see it again, so I may even go a third time. :-) It's a wonderful feel-good movie, with some awesome Abba music. I highly recommend it.

Oh well, back to enjoying my week off work. :-) Have a good week.

Blown away...

I've been blown away by the kindness of family, colleagues and friends old and new today. I've had such a fabulous birthday.

Here is my AMAZING birthday package from Kendra for the Stitching Blogger's Birthday Club.

As soon as I opened the package I recognised my three cats on my first ever floss tag. It's really lovely that Kendra chose to stitch something which has a lot of meaning to me :-)

Her kindness didn't stop there. She also included two Prairie Schooler charts from my wishlist, a copy of the JCS Ornament Preview Issue, an M Designs Needleroll chart, two metal floss rings, a cute little Doodle kit (so dinky), two skeins of amazing coloured floss (I can't wait to use these!), a postcard for my collection and a birthday card. Talk about spoilt!

Thank you so much Kendra - I love it all. I'm very touched by your kindness.

All this excitement makes an old girl tired, so off to bed I go!

My house has been bedlam this weekend. We have literally spent all weekend painting ceilings, skirting boards, our laundry etc. We had decided last week we would get new carpet and flooring. As we own a carpet and flooring business, everyone was willing to fit us in quickly (like tomorrow!) - so we've been working like troopers for the last four or five days getting the house ready. It was a bit stressful and tiring to say the least, but we're all ready now and we can't wait.

I kind of lost track of what date it was too, my partner's squares for the Fair & Square Celebrate Summer round need to be posted tomorrow. Luckily I finished them a while back and haven't missed the deadline. Good job Clare emailed me to say she'd posted mine out, or I may not have twigged :-)

On Friday the chart I won on KarenV's blog giveaway arrived. Thank you Karen! I'm looking forward to stitching this one.

Hope you all had a great weekend.

Mid-winter has really struck NZ over the past few days, with snow to very low levels ... even in my usually mild corner of the country. Brrrr...

The cold weather has meant Tiggy has to be indoors. We've also been kitty-sitting the gorgeous Max while his parents are away. Here are the pair of them getting to know each other.

While Tiggy was sitting in her cage on Saturday Max whopped her on the nose. But tonight Tiggy got her own back - she chased him around the room, which was hilarious to watch... until she caught up with him and toppled him! Anyway, I thought this was a very cute photo so I had to share...

No stitching photos to share though, as I'm working on a gift. But I can share some photos of some stash I purchased today. I'm looking forward to their arrival. Once I've finished the two RRs I'm in, I'm going to concentrate on some larger pieces for a while.

They're both Papillon Creation designs - Simple Quaker -

And Mary Queen of Scots...

Hope you all have a great week!

Is it July again? Groan!

I've finished my piece on Carol R's RR for the Quaker Friendship RR. I love how these are coming along.

You can click for a clearer view.

I've also finished my partner's squares for the Fair & Square Celebrate Summer round. Once she has received them, I'll be sure to share a photo.

It's been quite cold here lately. Luckily I was well prepared and purchased an indoor cage a few weeks ago for Tiggy. I don't think she's very happy indoors, but at least she is warm. Roll on summer!
